Orchestra practice takes place tonight at 7.30 at R, Ross’.
Notice of two mares trespassing at Evans Creek, is given in this issue. At Greymouth on Saturday in the senior game Stars defeated Marists by 14 to 3 and in the junior game, Black-' ball and Runanga played a draw, 3 points each.
At the Magistrate’s Court Greymouth this morning before Mr. T. Hutchison S.M., the case oi J. D. Lyuou (Mr. Joyce) v. W. Jeffries (Mr. Hannan) a charge of assault, came up for hearing. Mr. Hannan for the defendant pleaded guilty to a technical assault. After argument between counsel, a conviction was recorded and the defendant was fined £5 and costs. The 34th Reinforcements will be farewelled at the Town Hall on Wednesday night. Particulars of tho programme of entertainment will bp givon to-morrow. All soldiers on leave and returned men aro invited to attend the function, including also the short ceremony at tho Soldiers Club subsequently, when the photograph of Sergt Frickloton V.C. will be unveiled.
The Liverpool depot, Revell Street-, for the coming week-end, will bo under the control of Mosdames Roberts and 0. Malfroy, and Misses Henderson and Saunders. Those who have promised donations may leave same at any convenient time during the week up to Friday night, at either Mrs Roberts’ residence or tlie County Office, Fitzherliei t Street and on Saturday next at the depot. '1 he. ladies of tho Literary Club in charge of the Lady Liverpool Depot last Saturday wish to thank all those who responded so willingly to their appeal for gifts for sale and so helped so well towards tlie amount required for the comforts to be sent to the trenches. Saturday next will see tho final effort of tlie above club lor the present immediate requirement when the committee in charge will be Mesdnmes G. J. Roberts, and C- M. Malfroy, Misses Henderson and Sanders. At the conclusion Of this effort- the Literary Club will publish its takings.
