An American steamship was sunk in the Battle with six “U” ’ boats, (Cabled yesterday).

There is much criticism of erroneous official announcements that six submarines were believed to bo lost, and then stating that only one was sunk. The need of greater care is emphasised.
AN OPENING FOR GERMANY
(Received this day at 1.30 p.m.l BUENOS, AYRES, September 12
Government will open the submarine controversy, and ask Germany to redefine her policy. If the reply is satisfactory Germany will ho permitted to send another minister to Argentine, otherwise Argentine will withdraw her minister from Berlin.
