NATIONAL WAR FUNDS. TUESDAY, SEPT. 11th. •The Committee sat at 3.10 p.m., Present: Messrs J. Grinunond (voted to the chair) H. Norman, A. A. Andrewes, D. .1. Evans, and Sergt.-Major Atkins D.C.M.

The outward correspondence was approved. INWA RD CORRESPONDENCE. From Discharged Soldiers Department. reporting that 9070 men had been returned,.of whom 8.155 lmd been dealt with, while 1097 cases were under action, and. 718 cases were not ready vet.—Received.

From Internal. Affairs Department notifying that the General Officer had recommended that the most suitable articles for gift parcels "'ere woollen goods, milk and Havelock tobacco. Cash ‘equal to 2s- per man per month, might also he sent. —-Received. Emm Advisory Board forwarding particulars of Board meeting and an-

nual conference at Wellington.—Received : Messrs G'rimmond and Evans re ported briefly on the work done. From same making a levy of £2 9s 0d on account of £3OO required for expenses for the Board for the current year.—Received and passed for payment.

From same asking financial assistance towards a £IOOO grant to the N.Z War Contingent in hondon for tile entertainment of mini over on furlough from France.—Received and £lO voted'.

From same submitting proposals for scheme for uniformity of relief.—Received and generally approved. From Discharged Soldiers Department notifying particulars of men relumed.—Received ; resolved to enquire regarding one man still in the hospital; and in another case to arrange for train fare and expenses when visiting medical officer.

From same asking for particulars of offers of employment for returned discharged soldiers.—Received.

From War Expenses Office giving particulars of soldier in respect of whom ‘mquiry had been made.—Received with thanks.

From same agreeing to transfer of deferred pay to a mother in the case where a father lmd died.—Received.

From Pensions Department notifying grant of pension to soldier and family equal to £3.10s per week.—Received, ns very satisfactory. From tfhe 'soldier thanking the, Committee for the assistance obtained.—Received.

From same ‘granting a permanent pension to a returned man who had lost a limb.—Received. From Health Department stating an artificial limb would bo provided for the soldier a s soon as it was suitable to send him to Wellington to be fitted.— Received.

From Auckland Patriotic Society recommending a grant of 15s weekly for eight weeks' to a returned Westland soldier.—Received and granted. From a returned soldier acknowledging with thanks a grant of £4.—Received ; regret was expressed again that this man had noifbeen granted n pension.

From Lewis and Wells applying for assistance for parents whose son was go ing into camp.—Received; £l per week granted for three months, when the matter will he further reviewed. From National Service League forwarding copy of booklet for schools.— Received. ft was resolved to make enquiry in respect to the pension of a soldier which had been determined by the Department. The meeting then concluded.
