Tho members of the Westland County deputation returned from Wellington on Saturday night. In supplementing the report already published, it was explained that the Hon. -Minister of Public Works took a very favourable view personally of the bridging of the Mikonui river. The whole question now turns on - cost. There are two sites involved. One is at tho proposed tramway crossing, and tho other is higher up the stream where a shorter bridge would suffice, hut not bo convenient for the tram crossing. Estimates of tho cost are to ho put before the Minister during tho coming week, when Mr. Fraser will decide how far he can go ip the matter of assisting tho project. Ho promised the deputation that realising tho necessity for the bridge he would do the best- he could.
