KUMARA.
The Hibernian Ball took place at the Adephli Theatre on AN ednosday evening and despite the wretched weather conditions prevailing was a pronounced success from every point of view. Eight motor qars, conveying visitors from Hokitika, Greynioutli, Blackball, Stafford and Camerons arrived during the evening and materially assisted in swelling the already large attendance. Mr. Williams of Grey mouth was in charge of a most efficient orchestra. Mrs Dalke kindly supplied the extras. Air Dalkie made a capable AI.C. and carried out the duties in a satisfactory manner. . Dancing was indulged in till half past twelve when a splendid supper, provided by the ladies of the committee, was served. The floor was again occupied and festivitos continued till 3 a.in. During the evening songs were contributed by Alessrs Duncan, Clarke* and TTogai’f (Hokitika) and Bombard (Stafford) and were greatly appreciated. A number of young ladies were present in fancy costumes and needless to say looked charming. Altogether the ball was one of the mostpleasant and successful functions ever remembered here; x
