PRINCESS THEATRE. TO-NIGHT! TO-NIGHT!
At the Princess Theatre to-night public expectations-will be pleasurably satisfying when the curtain rises at 8 o’clock. ‘-Soot and the Fairies,” the pretty cantata which a host of juveniles arc to render as « practical benefit for the V..M.C.A. funds. The idea was conceived by Miss M. Reynolds whose brothers have written Inline so often to ■ tell of the good work done for the soldiers by the great organisation.
The first part will witness the appearance of about 70 performers who will tell in song and story how Captain Soot, land bis black brigade wore converted to habits of cleanliness by the good office of the Queen and her fairies. It is a pretty performance with " several .'songs, choruses, inarches and dunces, and with the host of juveniles tile stage hould bear an animated appearance throughout. The second part will he .miscellaneous in character, 'introducing .several new concert numbers, and a humorous monologue. The programme will be well varied and all will enjoy a very pleasant evoking. The doors will lie open at 7.30 o’clock and in view of the large number of ■tickets disposed of intending patrons

Dorothy Dalton, rho will be remembered by her splendid performance of “The Female Species” Lakes the part of Freda the Dance Hall Girl of “The Barbary Coast,” tbe name given to the gay quarter of San Francisco, who, by a chapter of accidents, culminating in the wreck of a big liner by a boiler explosion, is thrown on a lone island in company with ft narrowminded evangelist (William Desmond), A primal battle of souls take-; place on the island. The sun. the fresh air, and the cleansing life work's miracles on both. The play is who l ■-ome and complete in magnificent studio work. Luridly vivid views of the interior of i stoke hold of a hug-.- biter and tlie explosion of a defect' e boiler form a wind sight. The effect is awo-inspir-:ng as the lightful pressure, shown ‘o be mounting suddenly smashes the tubes and the ships, is torn in halves. “The Midnight Riot,” the 13th Chapter of “Gloria’s Romance,” shows Gloria (Billie Burke) entangled in a riot in a earn bet in the slum quarter of the city. The .murderer escapes, and Gloria and the others are arrested.
