THE TANKS. LONDON, Aug. 30. Rear-Admiral Tudor says tho Tanks were really invented and tested by Admiralty officers. The British war effort ha.s now reached the condition balance,, where the war needs the entire nation to act harmoniously.

General Maurice, interviewed, said that there were no developments on the British front but the process of wearing down the enemy continues The bomlyardment and infantry actions are proceeding with greater siuccess than is generally imagined. General Maurice said that he had received many letters stating that the British were getting the colonials to fight for them. The idea was current in America and especially in Spain. “This is a downright lie” he declared, "and part of the German , propaganda. At the present the British troops in France number six to one compared with tiro overseas forces and their casualties throughout the war show exactly the same figures. The- casualties at Ypres since July 31st. havo been plmost exactly nine to one.” FRENCH REPORT. [‘‘REUTEE’s” TELEGRAM.] / LONDON, Aug. 30th. The Petit Journal alleges the Germans are starving the (French population in occupied territory. They have had no meat or wine for three years. There are many deaths, especially the aged. It is estimated a quarter of tho population had perished at the' end of 191 ti. .. "
