SOCIALIST CONFERENCE. LONDON, August 28. Delegates from France, Russia Italy, Greeco, Portugal, Belgium, South Africa were present at the Socialist conference. Mr .A. Henderson opened with an address in •which he declared that momentous issues depended on its decision.,. The speeches of the French delegates indicated wide differences on many important points notably the Stockholm Conference. They declined representation on the comission which the conference had appointed to deal -with this subject. A commission was also appointed to deal generally with peace terms. Tlio Press Bureau reports the Miners Executive interviewed the Controller of r- Coal Mines and requested a twenty five per cent increase of wages. The Cqntroler promised to consult Government which is considering the application today.
