Tlie Council met at 2.30 p.m.,

The Legislative Council agreed to the amendment, in the Juries Act Amendment Bill. The third reading was set down for a date to be fixed by the Council.

THE HOUSE. The House met at 2.30 p.m

Sir Joseph Ward states arrangements were being made to establish an information bureau at all Post Offices in connection with the War Loan taxation. ,

He also stated tha an additional cable had been successfully laid across Cook Straits . The arrangements under which the cable was laid had saved £l4riOO to the Dominion.

The following Bills were intro duoed lor the first time.

Whangarei Harbour Board Vesting Bill (Mr. Hander);' Whakatahe Harbour amendment Bill (Hon. Macdonald). The. remainder of the afternoon sitting was taken up with discussing answers given to questions by Ministers. Hon. W. F. Massey moved the usual votes of sympathy in connection with the deaths of Messrs Kidd and Core. The House rose at 5.10 as a mark of respect to their memories. . n resuming at -7.30 the House went into Committee of Supply to consider the Imprest Supply Bill No 0 appropriating £1,043,300. Sir Joseph Ward explained that the Bill onlv differed from,previous hills in the jtoin of £74,000. for Telegraph Extension.

The Bill passed all stages and tin House rose at 11:10 p.m.,
