The annual meeting of No 2. Westland Industrial Ruilding Society takes place to-night at 8 o'clock at Messrs W. Jeffries and Co's Office, when an appropriation of £3OO by sale will also tako place.
At a meeting of the Hokitika Savings Bank yesterday afternoon, Mr. H. L. Michel, vice-President, in the chair, it was resolved to invest £5,000 iu the Liberty War Loan. The sum of ten thousand pounds was invested in the war Loan of a year ago.
The Lady Liverpool depot in Revell Street is open this afternoon and evening for the benefit of the Christmas comforts, fund for the soldiers at the front. All contributions will be acceptable and buyers will be welcomed to assist in augmenting the fund. We are glad to bear good reports of the rehearsals for the Y.M.C.A. benefit being promoted by Miss'Maisic Reynolds and which is to be held in the Princess Theatre on the sth prox. Tt will be a bright juvenile entertainment in which the children are already showing marked proficiency.
At the Princess Theatre this evening between 8 and 9 o’clock the raffle for the gold nuggets in connection with the Returned Soldiers Association will take place. Goods etc remaining over from the bazaar will also be auctioned off to-night, and the final winding up of this successful sale of work will take place.

The Mayor of Groymouth (Mr. J. D. Lynch) was a visitor to Hokitika yesterday. During his stay in town, accompanied by two other members of the Grey Patriotic Society, enquiry wah made as to the working of the Westland Patriotic Society under tht National War Funds Council, with a view to reporting to the Grey Society on a proposal also to range under the National Council.
