[PER PRESS ASSOCIATION. COPYRIGHT.] NO MARTIAL LAW. CABLES FROM SYDNEY. CHRISTCHURCH, Aug. 22. A merchant yesterday forwarded a cable message to a leading Sydney merchant inquiring how the strike v.as progressing and if martial law was in force. The following reply .was received, — “Ordinary conditions prevailing.” Another Christchurch importer sent a similar message to Sydney and the fol lowing reply was received.—“ Statement incorrect, no martial law.”
