At the Police Court, Wong Doo « Chinese storekeeper was charged as being tho occupier of premises used as a common gambling house. He was fined £75 and costs. SUPREME COURT. AUCKLAND, Aug. 20. At the Supreme Court Justice Stringer fined Willian Gordon £2OO for perjury in the civil case in the Magistrate’s Court in which tho defendant was sued for the sum of £25. MORE PARTICULARS. CHRISTCHURCH August 20. Captain V. C. White-Parsons-who commanded tho Turakina is a single man and as born in Lyttelton. He is the son of Mr, T. A. White-Parsons Bishop of St. Albans. Some years ago when at Rio deJaneiro the Turnktina was seriously damaged by firo and was then practically gutted. She was refitted at very groat expense and had only been diverted bv the Imperial authorities from tho England New 'Zealand trade to cargo trips from America to Britain. TWO LADS MISSING. THAMES, Aug. 21. Two boys left Thames on a pig-hnnt-ing trip on Saturday intending to return on Sunday, but are not yet back, thereby causing considerable anxiety. Search parties have been out for the last 'two days. The missing hoys aro Cecil Strange and Alfred Control, aged seventeen and sixteen respectively. 5 YEARS DETENTION. DUNEDIN, Aug. 21.
Arthur Francis McFarlane, who pleaded guilty in the lower Court to breaking and entering a dwelling, was sentenced at the Supreme Court to five years detention for reformatory treatment. , T
