At the Supreme Court Herbert Eaton Biulelilfe, recently chief clerk in the Mines Department was retried on charges of stealing £l5O and £35. the property of filie Government,. The jury found prisoner guilty and added the following rider to the verdict: ‘•We recommend the attention of tin: Public Service* Commissioner he drawn to the need for better safeguards in dealing with public, ■ money (1) by requiring payers to write the amount in words when requiring receipts, (2) »v making a regulation having the effect of certifying that officers cannot operate on either imprest accounts or deposit accounts without fJlio countersignature of another responsible officer.
