Messrs Matson and Co. report as follows regarding the above sales on ’Wednesday :
Fat Cattle.— I There wa.s a small yarding for the double market, and prices all round were a record for Addington, Extra steers sold from £33 /to £62, ordinary from £lB to £3O, cows up to £22 10s, heifers £l6 to £22. Beef averaged per hundred over £3.
Store Cattle. —There was a small yarding, and no decent lines.. Dry cows, sold, from £6 to £B, 2J-year-old steers £8 to .£lO 2s 6d. yearlings £5 5s to £6.
Fat Sheep.—There was a doume market, but not sufficient for butchers requirements for a fortnight. Th f ‘ market was decidedly firmer for all classes. Best exhibition sheep brought from £3 10s to .612 10s each. AVe can confidently quote ordinary sheep at 2s to 3s advance of last week’s prices. Store Sheep.—There was a medium entry, mostly comprising good hoggets and wethers and fat liner, of goqd ewers. AYo quote best ewes, 2-tooths, from 35s to 41s 6d., best wethers 34s to 38s 3d, best hoggets 26s to 30s, best, ewe hoggets, to 365, inferior'sorts as ue'ual. " ’ '
