THE BUDGET.
SYDNEY, Aug. 3. The estimated revenue for 1917-18 totals £22,417,810, and expenditure £22 385,956. Railway and tramway earnings are anticipated to show an Increase of £1,265,000, including £414, 000 from new lines.
Revenue' includes an increase of £53,000 from betting taxes. The Treasurer s aid the future was bristling with difficulties. As far as ban money was concerned, the State Government preferred to stand' aside rather than enter the domain which at the present time was essentially the of the Federal Government, but they felt confident that Governmont would be able to secure sufficient money to meet all ordinary obligations. The Government is establishing a State drug depot to enable hospitals and other public institutions to obtain pure drugs at reasonable prices.
