(Deceived this, day at 1.20 a.m.,) LONDON, Aug. 2. A Victoria Cross has been awarded tho Now Zealander, Lanoo-Corporal Samuel Frickleton: He was wounded while he attacked and checked under a heavy fire, but he dashed anvad of his section, pushed into the barrage and personally bombed and destroyed a machine-gun which was causing heavy casualties. \ •
He then attacked a second machine gun, killing th» whole of the dibit of twelve.
He undoubtedly saved his own and other units from the severest of casualties. His magnificent courage ensured tile capture of the objective. Frickleton was severely wounded w bile consolidating the gain- ' Throughout he gave a great example'of heroism. - , . j /.
