WESTLAND LIVERPOOL COMMITTEE.

GENERAL MEETING. Tho V-e was a fair attendance at the Town Hall yesterday afternoon, when the ladies word invited to afitdid to assist in extending the work of the Lady Liverpool Committee. Mr G. A. Perry (Mayor) presided, and explained the object of ,tho meeting. The following report by Miss F. Thompson, hon. secretary,, was read : ‘•During last year very satisfactory work was dope. Besides sending tlireo boxes of Christmas- gifts, and two boxes of Easter gifts to /the front, regular supplies of socks have been sent forward. During the last 13 months, 140 parcels containing 908 pairs of socks were sent, all hand knitted. Parcels of camp requisites were adso distributed to the men leaving for military depots. The receipts for the year were £256 Ss 9d from sales and-donations, and £237,, Is 7d were spent on goods, wool etc., leaving at date a credit balance of £29 7s. / - ■ “The Re veil Street depot has been open every Saturday evening and thanks are due to the ladies, who gave so much time, by their personal attendance. We are very much indebted to those who assisted With the knitting and kept the supply of socks; Mahy acknowledgements have been received from the men at .the front, expressing thanks and appreciation for the gifts.” The balance sheet was fend covering .{the financial position, and with the report was received and adopted. ft was resolved That those present, with power to add to their number,-ho appointed a genera] committee. Officers were elected as follows :—President, Air s W. J. Butler; Vice President, Airs D. J. Evans; HOll. Secretary and Treasurer, Aljss F. Thompson ; Executive, Mesdnmcs J. J. Breeze, Broc-k----leliurst, Benjamin, W. Wilson, Bennett. It- was resolved to arrange for /the depot to lie opened regularly every, weekend, tlie ladies deciding to take /the man agement in turns. For this purpose the town will be divided into blocks. A vote of thanks was passed to Airs. Evans, Aljss Thompson and the retiring Executive for, their faithful and useful work, also to Mr, S. J. Preston for the continued free use of Lis premises in Revel 1 Street. Stops will ho taken to organise at once for the Christmas -parcel and puding fund. The former will be made up locally, but the supply of the latter will be arranged through the Canterbury Society which is having the puddings' made in quantity. Funds will be arranged through the depot bv donations, and later by the in-: sititiition of a surprise-packet day. A vote of thanks to the Mayor concluded the meeting, after which the executive met to organise details
