HOPES OF PEACE. (Per Press Association — Copyi ight) (Received This Day at 12.25. p.m.) LONDON, Juiy 29. The Daily Chronicle’s Zurich correspondent says Erzberger has arrived. In an interview with the Pro-German catholio “Nauchrichten” of Zurich ho denied Dr. Michaelis, the War Chancellor’s statement in the Reichstag that he regarded Dr. Michaelis’s mission as peaceful. His appointment strengthened the Reichstag peace resolutionErzberger said every efFort mum, be. made to avoid a winter campaign. Thank God there was was a still a chance of a basis of understanding wi«h England whqrean a general lasting peace must rest. He concluded— “If I could meet Hon. Lloyd George and Hon. Balfour, ft i* probable in a few hours’ conversation sufficient progress would bo mode to enable official negotiations to begin.
