THE: MESSINES FIGHTING. Weluxotox, July 25 Mr Malcolm drew the Prime Minister’s attention to-day to the account in a London newspaper about the capture of Messiues, in which the Australians were spoken of as victors, and no mention whatever was, made of the New Zealanders. He asked Mr Massey what was tiie truth of the matter, as he understood that the Australians took" no part and that the New Zealanders held pride of place in the capture of Messiues ridge. Mr Massey’ /replied that he had not yet received particulars about Messiues, Members : What about our official correspondent ? The Prime Minister continued that prior to leaving Lonckm- he was told by a general that the New Zealanders would take Messiues and would get the whole credit for it. He was quite certain that when the full report came to hand they would be proud to find that what the general told him had been planned had actually happened, that the New Zealanders took the leading part in the capture of Messiues, and deserved the greater patl ot the credit..
