Tn connection with the above, at a meeting of tho Greymouth Borough Council on Thursday evening Mr Cottle moved: “That this council request the Minister of Defence to use his power under the Defence of tho Realm Act to prevent public demonstrations of welcome or processions in the public streets of this town to persons who have been convicted of sedition; and that a dopy of this resolution bp wired to Sir .Tames Allen nnd the Rt Hon. W. F. Massey in the morning.” The motion was seconded by Mr Weaver, and. after discussion, carried, Messrs Fogarty and Farfi'tt voting ’ against it.
