Th© men are in sight and will in course of t>m© bo available, but tlveso. seemß to be a recurring delay in getting every fresh draft of m*n m—camp, a delay which did not occur under the old system of voluntary enlistment. If all the men ballotted and examined ready to go into camp were to oe taken into, camp now, th© camps would be more than comfortably filled. There are, however, good reasons why it is advisable that the camps should not bo (too. full in th© winter season, and the present shortage is not causing t>«, authorities any concern. FATALITY TO CHILD. AUCKLAND, This Day. A girl aged 14 months tho daughter of Capt. A. S. Whitney died as the result of eating quinine tabloids which her father kept for his own use. Tho Doctor stated at the inquest that tho tabloids wer© very sweet and agreeable to the palate. If a fourteen months old child swallowed two or three the result would bo fatal. CENSURE OF NATIONAL CABINET. AUCKLAND. This. Day, Congress of Auckand Provincial Labour Unions carried a resolution.—This oongross of sixty one labour organisations has absolutely no confidence in the National Government and that i-> tho matter of food supplies for the people, th© Government has not considered the public interest but has also aided and abetbed th© exploiters of food supplier. LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL. WELLINGTON. This Day. Members of the Legislative Council waited on the Governor-General this .morning to present the Address-in-Reply. : On returning the Council resumed. The Acting Speaker Hon. Came conyeyed the thanks of his Excellency to the Council for their address. Hon. Carncross added that His Excellency expressed regret at the illness of the Speaker, and lie also announced \ fiat the Speaker (Hon. C. J. Johnston) had arrived sfttely at Vancouver.
