THE MINERS’ DEMAND. F AUSTRALIAN & N.Z. GAEL* ASSOCIATION J LONDON July 24. The Miners’ Conference is demanding a 25 per cent increase in wages. Mr. Smeelli© presiding over the Miners’ Federation Conference at Glasgow dealing with the increased cost ofi liv-! ing declared that the 'miners were in a position any time to force increased wages. Thy did not desire to us© that power and preferred to see a reduction in the cost of living. If it was not reduced wages must be increased. They could also force the Government to doil airily with those proved guilty in the Mesopotamia report.
