who was not enrolled. There wore extenuating circumstances, hence only a minimum fine was imposed. CHARGED WITH FRAUD. CHRISTCHORGH, July 20. At the Magistrate’s Court to-day, William Warnock Allender, land agent of Christchurch was charged with fraudently failing to account for £'> 16/8. Tho police said that other charges wero pending. Accused was remanded on bail. HOTBL BETTING. STIFF FINES. WELLINGTON, July 20. Fines totalling £375 were imposed in the Pofico Court to-day on two bookmakers for batting in hotels. Gilbert Walker on three counts, was fined £IOO on one and £SC on each of tho cithers. John Weston, also three counts was fined £IOO and £'s On# charge was dismissed.
