Mr. Massey writing from Gaza headquarters states General Allenby in assuming command finds that opeiat.ions in Palestine are similai t° France. The forces are deeply entrenched. We ar e securely dug in and the long line gives tho Turks no rest- Their positions ar<> frequently heavily bombarded, the guns uaily searching the enemy artillery and ammunitions dumps, doing much good work and preventing the enemy harvesting the barley behind the lines. Over half a ton of bombs were dropped on the aerodrome at Hamleh near Jerusalem. / Another squadron attacked! and severely damaged an important depot ; Tilkeran northward of Jaffa. A squadron attacked the headquarters of • tho Fourth Turkish Army, wihin a mile of the W alls of Jerusalem and drooped fifty bombs on tho headquarters’ buildings. Th e Turks have issued an announcement .that the British bombarded the Holy City of Jerusalem, sacred alike lb Mahomedans and Christians. Mr Massey continues that the town was not bombed, but four bombs hit the roof of headquarters.
