ADVANCE 'IN PRICES.

Christchurch, June 27 Messrs 11. Matson & Co report as follows:
Fat cattle —There was a medium yarding and the quality, all round was excellent. The demand was very keen and prices showed an advance on last week’s. Freezers got practically nothing, owing to prices being above their limits. Best steel’s sold up to £24, ordinary £l6 to £lB 10/. extra heifers to £l7. Cows £ll to £l4 15/. Store cattle—There was a good yarding, but mostly little lots, except ng one line of forty 4 and 5 year old forward steers, which made £l2 11/6. Yearlings made to £4 and empty cows up to £9 5/. Fat sheep—There was a smaller market and the quality was not so good as the previous week. Prices were firm all round. Best wethers 44/6, a few- 1 special ones giving higher, prime 33/6 to 39/6, lighter sorts 29/ to 32/. Ewes, best to 41/, prime 31/ to 37/, light and inferior 23/ to 30/. Freezers keep up to their limits.
Store sheep—There was. a small entry and good sale for all classes. Best wethers sold from 30/ to 32/ ; best hoggets, mixed sexes, from 22/ to 25/; sound mouth ewes from 28/ to 34/; good two tooth ewes to 36/.
