The Prime Minister and Sir Joseph Ward came to Wellington from Auckland by special train, reaching here this afternoon. On the journey down the Ministers were met at several railway stations by the mayors of the. towns and leading citizens, and words of welcome were given thorn - A civic reception will bo tendered them at the Town Hallto-morrow and aftorwurds tbo Mayor and members of tho City Council will entertain them at luncheon.
A LUCKY ESCAPE. AUCKLAND, July 26. Chatting about incidents of the trip, Sir Joseph Ward said that coming across Canada ho stayed, at Calgary. Their car was taken off tho train and another substituted, but .when th© train reached a distance of forty nail* on, rt went over a bonk owing to » washout in the Rocky Mountain*, and the engine and carriages that took the place of the.one in which Sir Joseph and party had travelled was derailed and rolled down th* gully, bring damaged severely, r. .. > ' •.
