German newspapers announce the reduction of tho meat ration in Silesia to four hundred grammes. Government are contemplating the reduction throughout Germany, but are afraid of provoking riots. ..It is reported ait lin that German Alajority Socialists have been invited to participate in the pence congress in Russia. Germans replied expressing their wish for the establishment of direct communication with German Socialists and Council of AVorkers and Soldiers.
STRIKE RIOTS. ZURICH, June 24. Strike riots at the Chemical factories at Chippin where Germany is obtaining salt-petre caused tho troops to bo called. Several workmen were hayonetted. GERMAN HEAT WAVE. AMSTERDAM, June 24. A remarkable heat wave over Germany has lasted for three weeks. :#/ Thai schools were shut in Berlin and hors« traffic was stopped. A water famine is threatened in many districts.
