Lieut-Commander Sanders, of tow Naval Resorvo who has been awarded the Victoria Cross—the story of ms action is withhold for the present—is an Aucklander. He was formerly officer of tho Union Steam Ship Coy., and joined the Naval Reserve a year ago. He was rapidly promoted, to Lieut-Commander and it is believed that he obtained the Victoria Cross in » one of the most . brilliant minor . engagements of the war.
