FRENCH SUCCESS,
WELLINGTON, June 23rd
The High Commissioner reports from London, Juno 22nd, at 2 a.m., as follows
French official. —During the course of the day the combat continued to our advantage oast of Vauiliaillon. Our couutor-attack on portion of the trench occupied by the enemy in the sector of Moisey farm resulted in a substantial gain as so far we have recaptured the whole of our former positions except the salient north-east of this farm between Mont Carnillef and Boyblond. We repulsed a German attempt to re take the positions captured on the 18th. We pursued the enemy, capturing a trench and advancing our position 300 metres on a 600 metro front.
A BRITISH RAID. WELLINGTON, Juno 23. The High Commissioner reports from London, June 22nd at 1.10 p.m., as follows. Sir Douglas . Haig reports southeastward of Queant in the neighbourhood of Nouvrecliapelle and Arnientfieres during the night successful raids were carried out. Casualties were inflicted on tfie enemy and prisoners secured.
FIERCE FRENCH FIGHT. WELLINGTON, This Day. Tho High Commissioner reports from London, Juno 23rd, at 3.10 p.m.: French official report.—At Vauxhailon and also south-eastward of Fjlian, German attacks wore repulsed, the enemy losing seriously without gainu‘>» any advantage. The fighting was particularly lively between Royere ana Friidont' farms.

There .was a successful local operation north-eastwards if Ypres, and German raiders were repulsed.

WELLINGTON, This Day. The High Commissioner reports from London on June 22nd, at 11-5 p.m.. Frenqli Official.-—At. Chctmiu des Dames the bombardment of our positions- continued until morning and was followed by a series of violent attacks on a. front of two kilometres west of Royere farm to . Chevreyny spur. Tho Germans launched important forces, and special troops, who ferociously attacked despite heavy losses. On the greater part of the front attacked the enemy efforts were broken and waves of attack repulsed. We retained our positions, except the centre where the enemy, after several attacks, penetrated a salient in our line.

A French report says after a violent bombardment at. night the- Goimans renewed their attempts in the region of Van Aillon, south-south-east of Filain. All attacks were repulsed with serious losses, tlio enemy not gaining any advantage'll lo attack was particularly lively between Royer and Froidmont farms. Tho Germans, who extended on an attacking front east of 'Epignes do Vigney as far north as Froidmont farm, were unable to carry the portions a-nd were beaten back. Yesterday our fire broke assaulting waves which were unable to read- uui lines or emerge from the salient wherein they penetrated yesterday. Enemy attempts east of Chovreux and oast of Calaliers de CCurcy, and the sector of Clmmbrettes, also failed.

AMSTERDAM, June 22.
Th 0 “Frankfurter Zeitung” states that lightening exploded a munition works at Foerde in Wesphalia and destroyed tlio, worksheds. Two people wor<> killed and four injured. Eleven farmsteads were burned down at Grasscli der Brunn, in Bavaria and many cattle incinerated.
HAIDERS REPULSED. GENERAL HAIG’S REPORT. LONDON, Juno 23. Field-Marshal Sir Douglas Haig imports :—We repulsed raiders eastward of Epehy, the enemy leaving several dead on our wire. We took a few wounded men. An enemy attempt on Guillomont Farm, in the Bame neighbourhood, failed.
The aeroplanes co-operated with the artillery with good results, despite the bad weather. We brought down one enemy machine and drove down six. Three of ours are missing.
EVACUATING FLANDERS. ROTTERDAM, Jun* 08. Frontier reports state that the German evacuation of Western Flanders continues. Two thousand inhabitants of fthei coastal region have arrived at Tongress, and 'Belgian civilians are arriving in the eastern province in large numbers,
