An American correspondent interviewed Lord Rhondda, who said unless ’they were assured of sufficient food to enable the British and Allies to carry on the war to victory, it would he almost superflous to appoint Food Controller. We are depending in a final degree, on United States and Canada to keep up the supply. America was fortunate to so cure a man like Mr. Hoover, who had great experience and ability. “I hope 1 won’t he misconstrued, when I say that the sooner American food measures are enacted the sooner we will breathe freely. If Americans are organised to their full capacity German hopes of starving the Allies, or even causing a scarcity of food and high prices, are doomed-to failure. ’’
, EXPORT EMBARGO. WASHINGTON, June 20. President Wilson has decided to enforce the embargo on all exports within 48 hours, in order to stop the drain from America. The action is to prevent tho-oxport to neutrals of grain and other essentials, unless a license is obtained. Mr. Wilson will appoint an export Council including Mr. Hoover. This body will determine the articles exportable and the countries entitled to receive exports.
AMERICAN LOANS WASHINGTON, June 20. A merica has advanced thirty-fivo millions to Britain, making the total loan to the Allies 983 million dollars. CATS 1 ADA’S FOOD. (Received This Dav at 11.25. a.m.) OTTAWA, Juno 20.
Canada has appointed W. F. Hanna as Food Controller with power to govern prices, requisition and sell food, and facilitate the export of the surplus to Britain and the Allies. Mr. Hanna controls the consumption of hotels and private houses.

The Government of the State of Minnesota has decided ito arrest two thousand I.WAV. agitators, whoso activities resulted in. closing many iron mines. The authorities believe a systematic Pro-German attempt is being made throughout the country to restrict the output of copper and iron.
