WESTLAND HOSPITALS AND CHARITABLE AID BOARD.

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 20th

The Board held a special meeting at 5 p.m., Present, —Messrs J. J. Breeze (President), A. Clifton, J. Grimmond, H. Norman, T. W. Bruce, R. Wild, G. 11. Blank, and A- Hutchison. TENDERS. Tenders were opened and dealt with as follows: — Meat.—Tenders were received from Andrews Bros, and W. H. Burrowes. quotations included were Androws: beef 6d ; gravy beef 6d ; mutton sides 7d, hind-quarters sd. Burrowes: 7d, s}d, o2d, and 6d respectively. It. was considered that the tender of W. H. Burrowes was the lowest for the quantities of meat used and it was accepted. For cartage of coal and firewood. J. Cameron 4s 6d per ton and 5s 6d per load. T. Stopforth 8s and 8s 6d. The tender of J. Cameron was accepted. Burials. —H. A. Thompson £3 2s; M. M -McGovern £4. The fender of. 11. A. Thompson was accepted. Bread.—D. Spence (Rimu) 9d per 41b loaf for twelve months. Mrs. Preston 91 d. The tender of D. Spence was accepted. APPLICATIONS.

MASTER AND MATRON AT ROSS

Applications were received as follows :

.Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Dawson Hokitika. Mr. and Mrs. M. W. McCarthy, Grcymouth. Mr and Mrs. P. O’Callaghan, Ross. Mr. and -Mrs 0. Hareourt, Hokitika. It was resolved to appoint Mr and Mrs. O’Callaghan of Ross.

OTHER BUSINESS. Hon G. W. Russell Minister of Public Health wired approving of the appointment. of Mr. and Mrs. Phillips as Master and Matron- at Ivumara Hospital.— Received.

A formal motion to authorise the borrowing from the Board’s hankers up to £3OOO till August 31st and £ISOO after that date, was carried ou the motion of the Chairman, seconded by Mr. Wild, Mr. Grimmond dissenting. Mr. Grimmond reported on a visit oi Dr. Teichelmann to Ross Hospital and bis action taken.— Received and action approved. The Board roso at 6.20 p.m.,
