ROLL OF HONOUR.

A cable receive this morning front London gives the pleasing news that

Lieut. Alf Andrews was wounded only very slightly. This will he good news t,o his relatives and friends.

Mrs John Carroll, of Roefton, received a telegram that her son, Private W. Carroll, had been slightly wounded on May 28th, hut was still with hia unit. We are pleased to learn that the injuries the soldier has receivod are not serious. Mrs F. Kent, of Reofton, has received word from the Base Records that her brother. Private W. Allen, has been wounded in action. This young soldier enlisted with the Main Body, and has served throughout the campaign. s This is tho fourth time he has been wounded.

News has been received that Privato George Moore, third son of Mrs Robert Moore, of Alexander Street, Grevinouth. has been killed in action on May 28th. He enlisted from Auckland. Ho was only 25 years of age, and lin'd for several years acted as clerk in the Union Bank at Greymouth. He wau also a prominent member of the Grey Football Club. Mrs. Geo. Sweetman, of Cobden is a sister of deceased; two married and one single sister reside in tho North Island, and three single sisters at home. Of three brothers, one (William) resides at Auckland, another (Bert) is on active service as a sailor on a transport, whilst the youngest brother (Joseph) is employed as an apprentice at the Greymouth Foundry.

The sad news was receivod yesterday that Private O. Shearer who was wounded in active service on the 7th. inst died on the Bth.. The late Private Shearer was the son of Mr. and Mrs. C. Shearer of the Inter-Wanganui district and was well-known in Southern "Westland. Prior to enlistment he was employed at the Hari nari dairy factory where he was most popular with all tho suppliers, who appreciated both his courtesy and attention to his duties. When on the Coast on final leave prior to his departure to the front, he was married to Miss Nita Hower eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs J, Hewer of Hari Hari, and formerly of Hokitika. IDs young wifo nceompan ing her soldier husband to Auckland to see him off on tho greatest adventure. The news that the has now died as the result of wounds will he received with very general regret. Much sympathy will be felt for his young wife thus suddenly bereaved and to her and tho sorrowing relatives there will he a very general expression of regretTheir feelings of grief and of pain will he tempered by the knowledge that he died a notable death fighting for King and Country in the cause which is to serve both this and succeeding generations.
