The specal correspondent of tlie “Journal” says: “I have seen vessels which the Americans are constructing to hunt submarnes. They are 30 metres long and propelled by petrol and will develop a speed of 30 knots They can replenish their petrol supplies on the high seas by the aid of tubes connecting them with tho reservoir of a parent vessel. Their armament gives an offensive of extreme rapidity. They have a considerable range and carry a listening instrument enabling the Americans to /detect the (approach of a submarine They cannot be navigated under water but they can submerge for a consider-, able time. Several hundred of these vessels will be in active service iti a very few months.
