It is understood that a revised list of justices of the peace will shortly be issued by the Justice Department. Some new appointments are being made and a number of names are to be taken off the register. The Christchurch Press of Friday says:—Mr C. M. Malfroy, the chairman of tho Westland branch of the Canterbury jAutomoHilo Association, has been on a visit to Christchurch, and has met the president of the Association (Mr A. S. Clakrson), Mr J. S. Havvkes (a member of the Association) and tho secretary (Mr C. W. Hervey). Mr Malfroy discussed the question of tlio erection of road signposts on tho West Coast, and Mr A. S. Clarkson informed him that tho Association -would make arrangements for this being done. It is likely that signposts will also be provided, where necessary, on the roal between Christchurch and the West Coast. Tho Association will take in hand shortly the erection of sign-posts on tho road between Christchurch and AshburtonA Dunedin correspondent says it is conjectured in' usually well-informed political circles that Parliament, after transacting formal business at the end of June, will adjourn, probably ior fortnight, owing to tho late arrival of the Primo Minister and Sir Joseph Ward to enable Cabinet to arrange the necessary war legislation.
