NEW ZEALAND'S ARMY.

REORGANISING THE INFANTRY. A 4th. -BRIGADE CREATED LONDON, March 27. Lieut-Colonel H. Hart D. 5.0., who has been commanding .the "Wellington Regiment- for some time past, has been promoted Brigadier-Genera}, and has oome across to England to organise and command the new Infantry Brigade for the.-Now Zealand Division. The' brigade will be formed of surplus men now available in the United Kingdom, and Reinforcements just arrived or due to arrive. ■' ""l , --- A few. weeks ago the first and second brigades of the New Zealand Division each of wlich contained one- battalion frorii each of the four districts, Auckland, Canterbury, Otago and Wellington were reorganised on an-island basis. The Ist Brigade now consists of the the 145;' and 2nd. Auckland Battalions' and the-Ist. and 2nd. Wellington Battalions and the 2nd. Brigade of the Ist. and 2nd. Canterbury and the Ist. and 2nd. Otago. The 3rd Brigade, of course did not take cognisance Of tho territorial origin of the men, and will not require alteration.-

The new 4tli Brigade will consist of four battalions, of which one will be added to each of the four territorial regiments, viz., 3rd Auckkland, 3rd Canterbury, 3rd Otago, and 3rd "Wellington. , Tlie present 3rd Reserve Battalions will be renumbered 4th. The new brigale involves a new field company of Engineers, Signal Section, Machine-Gun Company, Army Service Corps Company, and Field Ambulance

In connection with the above, it is understood that" Lieut. T. E. Y r . Seddon. M. P., who has been in cliargo of a- company at Codford (England) camp sometime was passed by the Medical Board for active service early in March, and has been appointed a staffofficer to the Fourth Brigade, taking up similar duties to those he fulfilled with the Second Brigade during the service in the Somme. Lieut. Ford of Grevmouth is also with the Fourth Brigade.
