The news was this morning of tbe death at Wellington to-day of Mr James McPhee, son of the late Mr D. McPhee, of Artburetown. He waß a single man t a native of this district, and agsd about 50 years. Mrß J. J. Molntosh, of the Red Li in Hotel, is a sister of deceased, tie was a well-known resident in fo'-rer years. Many fribnds will extend their sympathy to the relatives. We are pleased to learn that ths Hev J. E. Holloway has had ihe •degree of Doctor of Science confmed him by the University of New .'Zealand. There are only about balf ■.a dozen holders of the degree in New 'Zealand, so that the distinction is a special one. Hie many friends will join with us in congratulating Dr Holloway on hie success.
