SOLDIER SIGHTSEERS.
A ivsaofi’s Quest in Dickens Lanti.
London, March 20
The soldier sightseer has become quite an institution in London. Kbakiolid platoons make tbe grand toar of the town daily, personally conducted, amid the historic sights of the metropolis; and most avid of all are the AUZOC3 and tbe CiDadiaos. “ Men on sbo. t Rave from the front with cnly a few hoars to epend in Lmdon are p-rtic-ulat ly keen ou putting in as much tarns «s possible in being shown' round,” s ud cne of Messrs Cook’s representatives yesterday. “We arrange hors -brake tours for them and make a morning and afternoon of it, driving them ormnd tj all the principal sights.

“ I-find th it (be most popular 'terns on the programme are, curiously enough, of a ‘monumental’ nature the national Yallfclla in Westminster Abbey, Oliver Goldsmith’s tomb behind the Temple Church —and the Dogs’ Cemetery to Hyde Park*. Of these three perhaps the tert >8 the most fasoif ating to th e m. Old Loudon" and toe bouses and streets made memorabla by Chatles Dickens are another great attraction. Scores of the Ar zws whom I have shown round know p.ckaDS by haart and can quote him far bottf.r than mo teLondoners.“Oae of my passengsrs yesterday was a Maori, whose familiarity with “ Piokwick ” was astomshirg. He was very anxious to make a tonr of investigation along Goswell road and to find the house where Mrs Bardeil and her immortal lodger had their amorous adventures. He received a shock when he got there and found nothing but tramway lines and ferroconcrete.”
