There has been violent artillerying at Vauclere and California Plateau. Rlieims was heavily bombarded. French Captures (LONDON, May 22. A French communique reports that attacks on the positions we captured yesterday north of Mont Cornillet and Casque Telon were everywhere repulsed. We took 1000 unwounded prisoners on May 20th. PARIS, May 22 Importance is attached to the brilliant operations at Moronvillers Plateau, where heights captured tower 1800 feet and overlook Suippes Valley and the neighbouring lowland, which is 350 feet. Sunday's advance carried the French well down the northern slopes and enables them to shell positions at Nogentlabbesse, whence Rlieims was bombarded. The advance makes the German salient .westward dangerous.

The “Daily Telegraph’s” Rome correspondent reports :— Having lost the chief point d’Appui on the Isongo, the Austrians have established their right wing oil the heights of Tennova Forest, where they have prepared a new formidable line. The Austrians continue to destroy Gorizia realising they have lost all hope of retaking the town. \ Austrian CommandROME, May 22. V The Austrian command on the southwestern front has been transferred from the Archduke Eugene to Marshal Conrad. ' .
