Supremo Court WELLINGTON, May 32. At the Supremo Court to-day John .Walsh recovered £175 from William 'Butler for damages caused through a ladder in which plaintiff was painting a house, carrying away, with the result that he fell and had his left leg broltwa. The jury found that the ladder provided was unsafe. The original claim was £225. Notice of appeal was given.

Auckland, May 20 A most important development in dairying in the Waikato bae taken place in the amalgamation of the Matangi Cheese Company with the New Zealand Dairy Association. The goheme, which provides for the erec* iion of a glaxo factory, places the Matangi Factory as receiving the largest milk eapply tinder one roof in any part of ths world; The Dairy Association contracted to soli the out* put of glaxo to Joseph Nathan and Co., Wellington, fora term of years, the value of glaxo exceeding two millions. it is believed to be the largest commercial contract made in New Zealand.

Attempted Suicide

Auckland, May 21

Richard Cook, a platelayer, 40 years of age, attempted to commit suicide by cutting his throat with a razor. He was removed to the hospital where an operation was performed. Profits on CoalWellington, May 22 Mr Pryor, Secretary of the Mineowners' Association, says that if the mine-owners could obtain a profit of 1/ per ton on all the coal mined they would be perfectly satisfied with the result. The mine owners are prepared to submit their facts for investigation by the Board of Trade. There has been no exploitation of the public ; on the contrary, in many cases the increased cost of production has not been wholly passed on to the public.
