The Daily Telegraph’s Rome correspondent reports that prisoners state that General Boroevitch had prepared a grand offensive. He obtained in April, a nnmber of divisions from the Russiah front and new guns. The offensive was contemplated between Monte Santo aud the sea, with the object of destroying Carso salient, to deliver Gorizia, and recapture the whole of the leoczo line as far as Carso Valley. General Boroevitoh concentrated 1,500 guns on a ten miie front, with forty reserve batteries. Geneial Ladendorff visited the Trentino, and advised the Gorizia’s offensive, which was due to begin on 20th May. % General Cadorna’s Italian offensive spoilt the plan. The Austrian losses were so heavy that General Boroevitoh has asked Germany for assistance.
