ADDINGTON STOCK SALES

CHRISTCHURCH, May 2. Messrs Matson and Co. report in regard to the Addington stock sales: — Fat Cattle. —There was a very large yarding. Owing to the shortage 01 space freezing buyers were operating at reduced limits. Prime cattle made up to last week’s price, but inferior were easier, best steers brought up to £22 os, medium from £l6 to £18; host, cows and heifers sold at up to £ls, medium £ls 15s to £l2 ss. Store Cattle.—There was a medium entry of • very fair quality. The demand was easier, except for forward cows and steers. Yearlings and eighteen months’ old mixed sexes realised from £4 10s to £6; 3-yr old steers, small, £8 10s to £8 15s; calves £2; forward cows £9. - * Fat. Sheep.—There was a moderate yarding. Owing, to the scarcity ofspace at the freezing works, tli© freezing buyers were not operating to the same extent as previously. However, owing to the small market the butchers’ competition was keen. Prices, except,for lighter ewes, were smaller than last week. Backward wethers sold better owing to graziers’ competition. The graziers are expecting relief of freezing space at an early date, and it is anticipated the market will hold good.

Store Sheen.—-There was a snmii entry and the market was firm. Best wethers realised from 27s to 30s fid; best lambs from 17s 6d to 22s 4d; sound-mouth breeding ©wes 26s to 30s; full lambs from 14s to 16s; cull Weiners 21s to 245.
