A m st miraculous escape from sudden death occurred to three li'ies and the dr : ver of a motor from Ekr-t*-huua on Monday evening io Willis Street, Wellington. The car whs travelling up Wi lis street on tha wrong side of tbe road, end be driver suddenly realised his indiscretion, and attempted lo get across to iba proper side. In doing so be chose an inopportune time. As be alsw his car acro.-s the road a tramiar was coming down Wiliis strest and another gsiDg up.
It 89em5d a thousand to one chance hat the car be smashed to atoms, and that there wjuU be bloodshed, but somshow the two tramoars worked it tint tbe motjrcar was c?ught at tbe right time and it was slewed round in tbe opposite direction to that in which it was proceeding originally. Ths uesr front wheel was locked in tbe gear of the traracar, which was proceeding to Island Bay. No one was hart, no one even screamed, and after some heavy weight-lifting all concerned proceeded on their way. The driver of the Island Bay car was the means of saving the lives of the four occapants of the mo:or-oar.
