BALLOT FIGURES
The numbers, of men drawn in the various military ballots to date have been as follows First ballot, November, 1916, - 4000; second ballot, December, 1916, 3000; third ballot, January. 1917, 3600 ; fourth ballot (doable), February, 1917, 6867 ; fifth ballot, March, 1917, 4503, sixth ballot, April, 1917, 4812 ; total 26,782, In the six ballots that have-aiready taken place, 26,782 members of the First Division have thus been called up to fill some 8,500 vacancies in the Twenty-third, Twenty-fourth, Twentyv fifth, Twenty-sixth, Twenty-seventh, Twenty-eighth, Twenty-ninth and. Thirtieth Reinforcements. The First Division, which originally totalled 34,986 men, has also been , considerably drawn upon by voluntary * enlistment. At the ocuolnsion of the fifth ballot on March' 7, the total nnmber remaining in the Reserve was 55,419. This number bas now been further reduced by tbo 4812 men called up io the sixth ballet and the voluntary enlistment of First Division men since March 7. The total nnmber now remaining in the First Division is thus below 50,100.
