ANZAC DAY.

Yesterday’s Celebrations

WELLINGTON, April’ 25,

Anaac day was celebrated by a United Service in the Town Hall, which over 2000 attended, in addition to several hundred returned soldiers in uniform. An address was delivered by Rev. Dr. Gibb. In the evening the returned men held a gathering of their own. and exchanged recollection. This morning a Requiem Mass was celebrated for the Aiyzacs at St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church, the sermon being delivered by ' Archbishop O’Shea. The text taken was “Greater love than this, hath no? man than to lay down his life for his friend.” INVERCARGILL, April 25 Anzae Day was celebrated in beautiful weather. The school children assembled and saluted the flag. Thanks* giving services were Hold in the churches. There was a military parade and commemoration address, a - returned soldiers dinner, and a’ patriotic meeting in the Theatre. All the functions being a pronounced success. GREYMOUTH April 25.

Anzae day commemoration services were held in tho ohurches and were largely attended and a great open air service way held some 1500 attending; including several returned soldiers. Tho Mayor presided and clergy of the various protest-ant Churches toolt part.
