Whether it can ba cillcd a strike ofSo'allv or not, tha fact is that for a waok the boilermakers of WeWrßlon have ceased to do that class of work, and the engineering eotabiishments are seriously concerned ever the absence of skilled men when there is more than enough wo>k in repairing urgently need shipping. Certain demands were made by the boilermakers, and mid r tbs etr.ss of present conditions tho employers, I nnderetand, made concessions which met the men's requirements. Tfceo it was expected that work would go on fully, bat at tho mi of the week on'y a handful of boilermakers wave back at their old trade. The waterside rate of 1/10 per hour proved too great an attraction for thesa skilled men, who have never S' cured any thing like such a wage at their uuiai work. As many as po»sible go! places on the wharf, and 7 while they can secure the higher wage it is assumed that the engineering eatabl’flhments will have to go witheut their skilled msu of the river.
