MINISTERIAL VISIT

The Han Sir J uuei Alien and Hon W. D. S. MacDonald, sceompinied by the : r private seor furies, Mt-ssrs Dixon and Mulligan, and escorted by Mr J. A. Murdoch (Mayor of Kumara) arrived in town yesterday at 2 p.m. The visitors weie met by the Borough and County representative*, aud afterwards" took lunch at Keller’w Hotel. HaM an hou r Inter ths Ministers faced a crowded meeting at the Town Hall, and each delivered fine addresses. In addition to the Acting Mayor of Hokitika (Mr Coulaon) and several Councillor?, tho Chairman and members of the Hokitika Harbor Board, the Mayors of Kutuaia and Ross, the County Chairman, and members of the County Council were also present. Surgeon Captain Fleming, of Kumara, was abo present.

Subsequent to the masting the visiting Ministers vreio inviied to inspect tho Soldiers’ Club Room?, and there were entei taiued et afternoon tea. Both gentlemen expressed tteir pleasure at the comfortable quarters provided. About 4 o’olock the party left for the north, and were accorded an excellent reception at Kumara, where Mr Murdoch (Mayor) extended a cordial welcome, and expressed the loyally of the district to the Hon Ministers.

Later in the evsning the party returned to Greymouth, whence they depait to-morrow overland for Christchurch.
