HOME SERVICE.
An Administrative Change. The Commandant of the New Zealand Forces has decided to give effect Clause 37 of the Military Service Act, which provides that the Expeditionary Force may b 3 divided into such units and other divisions as he may think fit. The force ia to be divided into two branches, the foreign service branch and the home service branch. The new arrangement will take effect as from November 23, 1916. This administrative change will as (ist the defouce authorities to use the recruits at their disposal to the bast advantage. Every ballot is producing a certain number of recruits who are medically unfit for serviceiu the fieid, but who ai e capable of undertaking various military duties in this country. These men ere being drafted into the home service section, and it ia inP tended to relievo for active service as many as possible of tbs fit men who have been undertaking necessary work at the military camps and elsewhere. Home service men will be on the same footing as regards pay and discipline es men who are drafted into the foreign service branob. The change is important chiefly on the admiuis.trative side,
