The workmen at Krupps’ works at Ivie-1 demanded an immediate increase in their food allowance, and a rise of thirty-three per cent *i wages and also a war bonus. The directors 'declared that they were only drawing thd same food allowance as tlic men, but the labourers being incredulous demanded, to be allowed to inspect their larders, whieh inti directors refused. The “Times” correspondent ac British headquarters relates that one of the most gallant deeds was that of a solitary airman. When returning from a distant trip lie was attacked by a largo party of enemy machines. He fought them all until his ammunition was exhausted, and himself a.nd Ins machine almost shot to hits. He nad one of his eyes literally shot out, a bullet in his body and his foot smashed, yot despite all, he made his report. He apologised for making a rough landing because his smashed foot impared his control. The Russian Extreme Socialists formerly exiled in Switzerland, have arrived and are arranging a peace conference. Some German and French Socialists have accepted the invitation, hut the British refused. The British Government refused the exiles permission to visit England.
