POLLARD'S PICTURED.

“Zaza” Monday. “Pauline Frederick” as “Zaxa’’ in the Daniel Frohman Famous Players big production- of the five-act emotional drama “ Zaza ” will be the star attraction for Pollard’s Pictures next Monday evening at the Princess Theatre. Pauline Frederick has had a very brilliant career both on the stage and in pictures. She was born at Boston, Mass., and was educated at a private school in Boston. A list of some of the productions she has appeared in, in the leading theatres of New York, stamps her as an artist of no mean order: “ Roger Brothers in Harvard,” “Princess of Kensington,” “ It Happened inNordland,” “ Little Gray Lady,” “ The Girl' in White,” “ Toddles,” “ When Knights Were Bold,” “ Samson ” (with Gillette), “ Joseph and His Brethren,” “ Innocent ” (starred). Screen career (Famous Players): starred in “ The Eternal City,” “ Sold,” »Zaza,” “ Bella Donna,” “ Lydia Gilmore,” etc., and as great an artist as Pauline Frederick is, she cannot be too great for the calls such a part as “ Zaza ” makes upon her. The role of “ Zaza ” has wisely been termed the maker and breaker of reputations histrionically. “ Zaza” jails for an actress who not only can mpersonate, but must make the part >f the tempestuous music hall star a part of herself. When Zaza oves, she loves like a fury. When die finds out that the man who has ilchecl her heart is not free to do so, ler hatred is painful in its intensity, rhe lust for vengeance overpowers ler, and she eagerly ' grasps the nedium at hand—“ his wife and hild.” To build up from this a limax revealing the majesty of a voman’s soul that can love, lose, and orgive is the secret of the popularity if Miss Louis Waller ia England and Vfrica, enhanced her already big eputation by her great impersontion of “ Zaza,” and our own Nellie Stewart made the part one of the lost successful roles. The part of Zaza ” is a combination of the great ive and frailty in the character of Camille ” and the powerful reserve f the Overpowering lust for revenge f “ La Tosca.”
