Coal Shortage
HAMILTON, April 12,
At a meeting .of the Waikato Hospital and Charitable Aid Board to-clay film engineer reported a serious shortage of coal supplies, and that the whole power plant was in danger of being stopped on account of such shortage. Fifteen tons of coal per week were necessary during the winter months. The Board resolved to communicate with the Minister in the matter, and that in tlio meantime labour he put on to secure fire wood.
Rifa Perjury Charges HAMILTON, April 12. At- the Supreme' Court to-day, before Judge. Hosking, the hearing of the perjury charges against the Ruaitcs was continued. Tioke Hakaipare was charged with committing perjury by swearing that Constable Skinner was the mall who® fired the iirst shot at Matingapoliatu, and that ho fired ths said shot from a lo\ olver point-blank. Mr Selwv s appeared for the Crown. The? prisoner, who pleaded diet guilty, was represented by Mr Lundon. 'The evidence was practically the same as that adduced at the previous hearing. At 2.30 o’clock the foreman of the Jury intimated to liis Honour that the jury wished to express their disapproval of irrelevant questions, ai|d that they were hearitly sick of listening to matters not In the issue.
